The Connected Performance
A hands-on workshop for instrumental musicians and teachers with Oliver Prezant
What does it take to connect with the music you’re playing and the listeners you’re performing for? How can performing feel more like sharing, and how do you practice that? In this workshop, using simple musical materials or your own familiar music, we’ll explore what it means to give and receive attention, how to identify musical ideas and opportunities for expression, and how to share those ideas and feelings with others. Bring your instrument and a pad or journal to write in, as well as a short excerpt or two from something you’re very comfortable playing. It doesn’t have to be much, just a phrase or two will be enough. You’ll be working with fellow musicians in whole group, small group, and individual exercises in a warm, supportive environment.
$25 Registration fee,* advance registration is required.
*Free for Santa Fe and Albuquerque Public School teachers.
To register, email info@oliverprezant.com with your name, instrument, and whether you’re a professional, teacher, amateur, or student musician.
