For Musicians: FREE - SCORE STUDY, ONLINE Mozart - Symphony No. 40, first movement

  • ONLINE Registration Required (map)

FREE, ONLINE: Open to school ensemble directors and conductors, instrumentalists, singers, teachers.

WHEREVER YOU ARE in your musical development, if you’re hungry for meaningful engagement with music, studying scores is where it’s at! Go deeper into the experience of music, increase your understanding of composition and interpretation, and let the experience of detailed study give you new insights to draw on when you play your instrument or sing, perform, teach, or conduct.

Join Oliver Prezant and your fellow musicians for an exploration of the integrity of Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, Movement 1, in a supportive, conversational setting. We’ll admire the virtues of the parts against the whole, explore the construction of melody, consider the subtle use of motivic material, and look at how thematic material, harmony, and phrase structure work together to create the overall shape of the movement.

Public domain scores are available online, and the score will be shown onscreen during the session.

ADMISSION IS FREE, REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
