An introduction to the earthly delights of the genre
Featuring Cármelo de los Santos, violin, and Natasha Stojanovska, piano, with Oliver Prezant
PLACITAS: Listen here—and here—and here! There’s something sublime about the interactions of the musicians when they play chamber music. The intimate dialog between instruments, the shifting roles of melody and accompaniment, the thunderings of passion, the whispers of tenderness, the contrasts of character, and the boldness of individual expression are all on full display in this marvelous genre where musicians meet, person to person, in the music.
Your host for this exploration is Oliver Prezant, whose engaging talks for the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and the Santa Fe Opera have introduced thousands of people to the richly rewarding experience of listening deeply to classical music. The musicians you’ll hear are two of New Mexico’s finest, and both internationally known: Cármelo de los Santos, violin, and Natasha Stojanovska, piano. The music we’ll hear is César Franck’s Violin Sonata, a Romantic-era favorite that is sure to delight.
Join us to drink deeply and heartily from this wonderful well, and bring a friend… you’ll be glad you did!
